Sperm And Testosterone: A Golden Business Opportunity

This week, I am sharing an amazing opportunity with you.

I want to show you the business opportunities in the markets of male testosterone therapy and male fertility.

If I had to start all over again, this is the industry I would build a business in.

In this article, I’ll first present the opportunity, and then I’ll lay out three business models you can execute on right now.

Let’s do this.

The Problem With Men

Men are facing a crisis. Simply put, on average, fertility rates and testosterone levels are plummeting.

Let’s start with sperm.

It all started last year when I read a study published by The Oxford Academic. The study was an analysis on average sperm count. The findings were alarming.

Here is the analysis.

  • Sperm reduction is not localized, in fact, it’s happening globally.
  • We’ve seen a 50% reduction in average sperm count since 1973.
  • Following this trend, the average man will not be able to have children unassisted by 2050.

I’m still shocked at these numbers.

Next, let’s look at testosterone.

Testosterone rates in men have been dropping at about 1% per year. This study from Oxford Academic continues to be a leading resource on the topic. This study was published in 2007, so the numbers are probably worse in 2023 than they were in 2007.

What’s Going On?

There’s a lot of debate as to why this is happening.

Most scientists agree it’s a combination of many factors. Most notably …

  • micro plastics (for example, drinking from plastic water bottles)
  • less time in nature
  • more time sitting on the couch
  • hormones in our food

Okay, now that we’ve identified the problem, let’s looks at some ways to take advantage of this opportunity and build a business by providing solutions.

Business #1 – Lead Generation

Over the next decades, you are going to see a massive increase in the amount of localized testosterone clinics and men’s fertility clinics.

Every one of these businesses is going to need lead generation.

In my view, the best way to build a nationalized lead generation website is with a directory. If you are patient enough, you could easily build a national directory that organizes the local testosterone and fertility clinics by state, creates free listings for every clinic, and then writes articles, essays, and guides which provide information and resources for men looking for solutions.

The directory could monetize in two ways …

First, you could generate leads for the clinics themselves, usually by generating and selling phone calls. Or, you could sell featured listings and ad space so that when potential customers are searching for solutions, the featured listing generates the most attention, clicks, and phone calls to the business paying for the space.

Think Yellow Pages, but specifically for testosterone clinics or fertility clinics.

So if someone searches for “men’s fertility clinic in Nebraska”, they will be sent to the Nebraska page in your directory, and then the clinic who buys the featured listings will get the premier real estate for that spot.

I’ve used this exact model many times over in my addiction recovery sites, and currently am working on another site for Stem Cell Clinics.

In addition, I’ve seen this model work brilliantly for woman’s fertility clinics. The business was called Fertility Authority, and the company was sold to Progyny for millions.

Business #2 – Google Business Listing Agency That Specializes In Men’s Testosterone And Fertility

The market for local brick and mortar businesses is ripe for improvement and innovation.

Last week, I wrote about how the baby boomers are soon going to be selling off their local brick and mortar businesses. A few months ago, I also wrote an essay on why I think creating an agency that specializes in Google Business Listings (GBP) is the fastest way to make $100,000 a year.

Brick and mortar business are simple, and therefore, they are impervious to many of the disruptions in the future.

No matter how fancy AI gets, I believe people will still walk into store fronts and pay for a service that is delivered to them by people.

As always, these local businesses will need a way to generate foot traffic from their localized market.

In order for clinics to generate foot traffic, they will hire you for $2500 – $10,000 a month to manage their local marketing for each location.

This is a similar model to Stodzy Internet Marketing. At it’s core, Stodzy Internet Marketing is a lead gen agency that specializes in behavioral healthcare.

I assure you, the model works. We’ve already proven the model out to multiple millions at about 40% profit margins.

You could easily replicate the model for the men’s fertility and testosterones markets.

These services are expensive, so the clinics themselves will have enough money to pay top dollar and be able to afford monthly recurring fees. The best thing about high paying clients is that they are actually easier to work with and less demanding than low paying clients.

Business #3 – A Media Company That Focuses On Men’s Hormones And Fertility

Believe me, there are hundreds of thousands of men that are feeling insecure about these issues. Not only do these insecurities arise naturally with age, but society has exacerbated the problem.

The demand is there. As such, there are dozens of products being introduced into the market place.

One example of this is Hone Health.

I’ve been following this company for years. In 2018, their founder Saad Alam actually few to Nashville to be on my podcast.

P.S. – At the time pf this recording I was still running 20 miles a week. It’s crazy to see how much skinnier I was back then. lol. 🏃🏃. I’m glad I stopped running and focused on weight lifting instead. 🏋️🏋️

Something To Understand …

Hone Health is a B2C company, meaning they sell products directly to customers who want hormone therapy and testosterone.

As happy as I am to see their success, I wouldn’t recommend going this route.

Why?

Because the regulation, red tape, and bullshit you need to deal with by going direct to consumer in this indsutry is significant. You would not be able to build a B2C business without substantial funding, investments, lawyers and maybe even a lobbyist.

That’s why I recommend a media company. Because if you build an email list and an audience for men interested in this topic, then all these new immerging businesses will need you to help promote them.

Here’s Another Example

I am following this exact model for the behavioral healthcare space.

Instead of building my own treatment clinic to help people, I am creating a newsletter which reports on news, investments, and press releases involving the business of behavioral healthcare.

The newsletter is called The Census. I’ve built up close to 2000 subscribers and the newsletter is already monetizing. I’m starting to get multiple inquiries from SaaS products, product lines, and other B2C companies who want to advertise to my audience.

Building an audience and then leveraging that audience is a much faster (and less stressful) path to success than building a B2C company yourself.

Once you have the email list, you have options.

Especially considering how lucrative these products are and how high of a demand there is for them.

This Isn’t Going Anywhere

I have two criteria for business building.

  • Is it profitable?
  • Is it evergreen?

I personally chose to avoid trends and I like industries that are going to exist for decades.

Men’s fertility and testosterone therapy check both of those boxes. The problem for men is only going to get worse over time, and the products / services that this indsutry provides are highly lucrative with great margins.

Are there challenges in this industry? Of course, there’s no such thing a “sure thing” in business.

None the less, if I were starting over today, I would be reading as much as I can about the science and writing about my findings every single day. I would try to position myself as one of the leading experts in the space and build my authority through the content I create.

After year or two of learning, writing, and publishing content, I would start to build out the business model.

This space is perfect because you have the ability to be patient. You have time to learn, strategize, and network.

All the rest, is simply a matter of your willingness to put in the work and your ability to make the right choices.

So get after it.
