LinkedIn > Twitter

Hey there. Tim here.

Big shoutout to the endless wave of replies last week from those of you who taught me the difference between the words cue and queue.

This week's issue is brought to you by The Copyblogger Academy. If you're serious about building a personal enterprise, this is the way.

1. LinkedIn > Twitter

Let me be clear. I love Twitter. It's been my favorite social app by far. I've met some amazing people on Twitter and I've really enjoyed my time on the platform.

But ... I think Twitter is dying.

I'm not one of those maximalist Elon haters. It's not like that. Rather, it's about value. The fact of the matter is that since Elon took over Twitter, the value of the spending time on Twitter is way down.

But guess what? The results I am getting from LinkedIn are WAY up. I'm finding the community to be enjoyable, positive, and MUCH less toxic than on Twitter.

In addition, my reach on LinkedIn continues to grow month over month.

At the beginning of last week, I made the commitment to start interacting with people on LinkedIn as opposed to on Twitter. I did this for two reasons.

First, interacting on Twitter is like trying to pet a porcupine. There's no good outcome. So I decided to stop doing the same thing over and over again and expecting people to be nice rather than to spam me and call me stupid.

Second, because I wanted to see if there was real value in getting involved in the community on LinkedIn. Within a week, there has already been a huge jump in interactions as well as a huge jump in friendly connections from people who I appreciate and respect.

I've had great conversations with Lara Acosta, Dina Calakovic, Ben Meer and many more people. Probably 20 friendly conversations in total.

So this is it. I am now switching teams.

Yes, you will still find me on Twitter and yes I will still be shit posting during Eagles games, that will never change.

But in terms of where I spend my time, I'm allocating 80% of my resources to LinkedIn and pulling almost all my resources away from Twitter.

We'll see how it goes.

2. Taylor Swift Is Making ALL The $$$

Per Bloomberg:

"Taylor Swift is bringing in ticket sales of more than $13 million a night on the road — putting her on a trajectory to deliver the highest-grossing tour in music history."

"Swift is on pace to gross more than $1 billion, a threshold no artist has ever hit. Through 22 dates, the tour has grossed $300 million, according to Pollstar, an industry publication. She was scheduled to perform more than 50 dates in the US in all and then go abroad. Pollstar estimates Eras could top $1.3 billion."

Absolute madness. Taylor Swift is taking over the world.

4. Happy Fourth of July

I don't get into many political debates on my platform. The way I see it, everyone is right and wrong at the same time, and so as a citizen, my job is to listen to everyone with respect and intent, and then formulate what I think is to be the best solution to solve people's problems.

I love America. I don't know why American's hate America.

Maybe, it's because of this.

5. It Takes 15 Years

The years are going to pass you by regardless. The concept of consistency over such a long period of time will sound daunting, but 15 years from now, you will probably wish you started today.

I hope you all have a great week. As always, feel free to hit reply and let me know what you think or if you have any questions I can answer.

Love you guys.

Talk to you next week.

Tim
